New Beginnings

I moved to the wonderful city that is London in 2000 with a suitcase. Initially, I only planned on staying for two years but quickly discovered that God had some tricks up his sleeve.

I originally came to help with a punk/metal/goth church that was just starting out. A few years later, I found myself helping to start another alternative punk/hardcore/metal  church with some friends from the metal/goth church. It was here that we started an alternative music festival. It was also here where I met my future wife Vickie.

My future wife Vickie and I then felt God was calling us to start a new church community where it was safe to ask and talk about doubts as well as difficult issues. It was during this time we decided to tie the knot. After a few years of being part of this community, we found ourselves walking with the activist community, exploring where Jesus and his values might be at work. During this time, our daughter Gwen was born.

Fast forward to the present, my family and I feel that our time in London is coming to an end for now. We feel God is calling us to move back to the USA where we are originally from. We don’t know what this means yet or what our future looks like. All we know is that the next season involves taking some time to rest, be near to family so that our daughter can know her extended family more as well as listening to God what our next steps might be.

After being here for 18 years or so, we have made strong connections with various communities and have made life-long friends in Europe. We are planning on coming back to visit, catch up and see what God is doing in Europe. Who knows what the future might hold, we might even find ourselves living in Europe years from now. So this is not a forever bye but a bye for now.

We live in an amazing world and I consider myself lucky to even be able to take part in what God is doing from helping start various alternative church communities in London, to leading a hip-hop Bible study in Paris, to helping lead an ecumenical mass in Czech Republic a at a festival, to supporting my friends in a picket at the local library which led to us being arrested, to encouraging a small group of Jesus loving folks who are doing outside of the box things which would raise a few eyebrows from the church in Bradford.

We will be moving this July and I realise that this is a short notice. But I couldn’t share this news until some other matters were taken care of which happens to be really good news. (If you really want to know, just message me or keep an eye out on my Facebook or Instagram pages). I have tried to get in touch with many friends during the last few months but I havent been able to get around to everyone. If this is you, please forgive me as this was never my intention. With that in mind, we are having a ‘Goodbye for now’ party on the afternoon of 24th of June. If you would like to come, please message me for details. It would be lovely to see you there.

If you can’t come to the party, I would love to hear from you.

I would like to close with some words from my dear friends in the Jesus Freaks.. ‘Thanx Jesus! It’s all about you! G-d is in control and he never makes a mistake!’

Much love.
